Two-Dimensional Instruments, LLC
2DI was founded in 1999 to manufacture electronic instruments that monitor and document temperature and humidity
because a technician needed a way to track the temperatures of his refrigerator and freezer to prove to the Health Department that they were working properly.
He knew about chart recorders, but they require constant maintenance, (replacing paper charts and pens) and because they
are mechanical with moving parts, they eventually wear out and break down.
And the cost of all those charts
makes them very expensive and
maintenance intensive
(comparison).
He didn't want a data logger because they
are too complicated for his employees to use. He wanted an electronic instrument that was completely self-contained, reliable, easy to setup and use. In fact, he wanted something that any twelve-year-old could use.
With these design criteria the
ThermaViewer™
was designed and made and it did everything he wanted and then some.
He couldn't be happier.
ThermaViewer™ data is always visible on the large display and can be downloaded
to a computer for long term storage or printing a
paper record.
Once the
ThermaViewer became available lots of other people found uses
for them. They started to be used in pharmaceutical
companies, warehouses, laboratories, museums to mention just a
few of the applications. The
ThermaViewer™
initially used a digital probe to take temperature, which worked great for refrigerators and freezers, but wasn't accurate enough for
some of these more-demanding-applications. We quickly added a thermistor, thermistor/RH, and a K-type thermocouple probe. Several different thermistor probes were created
with accuracies of ±.2C°, ±.1C°, and even ±.05C°.
Our customers are laboratories, food manufacturing companies, warehouses, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, nursing homes, hospitals, trucking fleets and anyone else who must monitor and document temperature or temperature/RH. They love the
ThermaViewer™ because it is self-contained, stores months of temperature history, require no maintenance and cost less than the alternatives.
We are located near Louisville, KY, the 16th largest city in the US, where we have access to the latest in manufacturing facilities and some of the best engineering talent available anywhere, supplied by two major universities with outstanding engineering schools. Louisville is also a major shipping hub so we can easily and quickly ship to anywhere in the world.
