Documents & Monitors Temperature

The Viewer  continually samples temperature and draws a chart on the large LCD display.  It not only shows the current temperature but it also what the temperature has been over the last ten months.  The Viewer  collects temperature from two different sources at the same time so that you can monitor two different  rooms or a refrigerator and a freezer or an incubator and a room or etc.  Each sensor comes with a twenty foot cord but can be used with much longer wire.

Displays Temperature History

Traditional thermometers show only the current temperature is but that is not really enough. For a clear picture of temperature, you must know what happened over some period of time.  A sudden dramatic jump in temperature means something entirely different than a long slow steady rise in temperature.  But if you only see the temperature at the high point, there is no way to tell what actually happened.  To really understand temperature you have to see it over time. That is exactly what this temperature monitor does.  It displays the previous temperatures as a simple chart on its large LCD display.

Draws a chart

The Viewer shows the temperature over time, so if it is in the middle of a trend you know when it started, how high or low it got, and how long it lasted.   And if the display you are seeing doesn't show enough data, you can zoom out to see more of the temperature history or scroll back to previous times.  You can literally see six months of temperature history displayed on the screen at one time!

No Programming!

Using the on-board menu system, you can set the display and collection parameters at any time;  even change them in the middle of collecting data without losing data.  If you collect temperature every 10 minutes the Viewer  saves and displays ten months of temperature history.

Trace Mode

The trace mode highlights individual temperatures.  For example, if you come in Monday morning and see a large temperature spike on Saturday night the 'Trace' mode can highlight it, show when it started, how long it lasted, and when it ended.

Displays months of temperatures.

The Viewer  stores a LOT of data.  In fact if you are storing a temperature every ten minutes, it will keep over ten months of data, for each probe.  If you sample temperature once an hour it will hold five years of data.

Operates during power failures.

To keep your data safe there are two different backup batteries:  A nine volt battery powers the unit during a power outage, and a button cell battery takes over to preserve your data if the 9vdc runs out of juice.

Downloads data to your network

Archive your temperature data with the TView program, which will make a copy of the ThermaViewer data to your computer.   A regular schedule of backing up your data insures that you always have a copy of your Viewer  data.  During the download, the TView program draws a chart on your computer screen and saves a copy as a CSV file.  Once the data is on your computer you can zoom-in for a closer look or zoom-out to examine trends just like you can with the ThermaViewer.  You can also print out the graph, and even move it around with your mouse.
