How Accurate is the ThermaViewer™ Temperature Monitor?
The accuracy of the
ThermaViewer™depends on the sensor being used, since there is negligible instrument error (less than .1%). The
ThermaViewer™can be used with three different types of sensors; digital, thermistor, and thermocouple. Each of which has its own accuracy characteristics.
1. Digital Sensor (Analog Devices TMP04) Used with TDVD-01
If the digital probe is used to sample data, the typical accuracy depends on what temperature is being measured. The spec is ±1.0°C at 25°C (room temperature) and ±1.5°C from -20°C and 70°C. The
ThermaViewer™ uses the TMP04 chip from Analog Devices.
2. Thermistor/RH or thermistor only probe
There are two different thermistor probes available. We normally supply a ±.3°C thermistor but have a ± .3°C thermistor available as an option. These probes are used on the TDVD-02 model to collect temperature, and on the TDVDR-02 to collect temperature/RH. The RH sensor used on the TDVDR-02 model is made by Honeywell and is ±2% from 0% RH to 100% RH at 25°C, non-condensing. Exposure to > 90% RH causes a reversible shift of 3% RH.
3. K-Type Thermocouple
The accuracy of the measurement using a thermocouple, is dependent upon the accuracy achieved by the K type thermocouple. The cold junction compensation is typically 1.5°C. The limits of error for a K-type thermocouple are typically 2.3°C or 0.75% above 0°C and 2.3°C or 2.0% Below 0°C, but will vary depending on the thermocouple.
