Can I Use an Alarm with ThermaViewer?

The Viewer is equipped with a relay to trigger an alarm, a buzzer, a bell, a light, an auto dialer, or  other warning device.Temperature alarm system for complete a temperature monitoring system. The relay is a dry contact, N/O relay.  It does not supply any power but closes a contact so that an attached device is triggered when alarm conditions are met.  Click here for a diagram showing one way that an alarm could be wired to the Viewer.

The relay's 'trigger conditions' are set for each probe on the probe's menu. (To access the probe menu, press the 'Enter' key, then use the 'Down Arrow' key to select the probe and press the 'Enter' key).  Use the keypad to activate the relay, set the trigger points and the duration of the alarm.  Once an alarm is triggered it can be turned off by pressing the 'Esc' key.

The cable between the ThermaViewer and the alarm device can be up to several hundred feet in length.  Several Viewercan even share the wire, by wiring them in parallel, so that any one of them will trigger the alarm.  The relay is fused at 30vdc and .1amps.

Many of Two Dimensional Instrument's customers use an auto dialer to call them of temperature moves outside their 'safe zone'.  2DI offers an auto dialer that will dial four different numbers (i.e. phone, pager, cell) and leave a message when triggered.  Any auto dialer that can be triggered with a dry contact relay will work equally well.

The AC power adaptor supplied with the Viewerhas two  connectors which can be used to supply power to the  Viewer  and the Auto Dialer.  This helps keep the number of wires to a minimum, since it eliminates one power supply if you are using the Auto Dialer with the Viewer.
