ThermaViewer™

New JCAHO Standards PC.17.10,  effective July 1, 2005

Note: The following standards apply to organizations that store or issue tissue, which may include areas outside of the clinical laboratory, for example, surgery and outpatient centers and tissue banks. Examples of tissue specimens that might be found in an organization include bone, cornea, skin, heart valves/conduits, tendons, fascia, dura, bone marrow, veins, arteries, cartilage, sperm, embryos, eggs, stem cells, cord blood, synthetic tissue (artificially prepared, human and non-human based), and other cellular- and tissue-based transplant or implant products.

B 6. Maintain continuous temperature monitoring for storage refrigerators and freezers.

24/7 Temperature Monitor

The Viewer  continuously monitors two storage refrigerators or freezers, displaying a temperature history of each appliance on its large display, to comply with the new JCAHO standard. The ThermaViewer constantly samples and stores the temperature in its on-board RAM memory every ten minutes drawing a time-temperature chart on its display so that each employee can see the temperature history. Application note for complying with JCAHO PC.17.10.

Auto Dialer or Local Alarm

Its onboard relay triggers an auto dialer or loud strobe/siren if temperature moves out of your safe zone.  You will be alerted no matter what time it is or where you are.  The phone dialer calls four different phone numbers to deliver a 16 second message so that you can immediately respond to protect your inventory.

Bullet Proof

The Viewer  is electronic solid-state device with no moving parts, that will operate for years without maintenance or expensive supplies.  It has two different battery backups so that if the power fails for any reason it will continue to monitor and alarm your refrigerators and freezers.

Protect your Inventory

The ThermaViewer is a 24/7 watch-dog device that guards your irreplaceable inventory and insures it remains viable and safe.  The refrigerators and freezer used for tissue storage are mechanical devices that can and periodically do fail.  Protect them with the ThermaViewer

Large Display

Viewer draws a chart of the freezer/refrigerator temperature on its large display, so if the temperature changes, you will immediately be aware of it.  If it has changed over time you can tell when it started, where it went, how long it stayed there and what happened next.  Critical information.  And if the display doesn't show a long enough time span, you can zoom out to get a better overall view of the temperature history.  In fact you can zoom out until you see six months of temperatures on the display at the same time.  If there is some sort of periodic trend or anomaly it jumps right out at you.

Easy-to-Interpret

The ThermaViewer's trace mode lets you scroll along the chart.  You can zoom into individual temperatures so if you come in Monday morning and notice that a temperature spike occurred Sunday night, you see the actual time it occurred, when it started, when it ended, and what happened before and after.  In short you can see the complete temperature history of the tissue storage refrigerator or freezer.

JCAHO Audit

The PC-interface program downloads the temperature history from the Viewer to your computer for archiving or printing.  It is simple to print out the temperature history for a JCAHO audit.  The PC program also has an auto-download function which can download the stored temperature history every five minutes, every eight hours, once a day, once a week or once a month to your computer.  This puts the temperature history on your network where it is accessible to everyone who needs to know what is happening.

Monitor tissue storage location's temperature and humidity accurately with ThermaViewer temperature monitors.
